Central Bank of India Appoints E. Ratan Kumar as Executive Director

Central Bank of India has announced the appointment of E. Ratan Kumar as its new Executive Director for a term of three years, or until further orders. The elevation comes at a time when the bank is intensifying its digital transformation agenda and expanding technology-led capabilities across key business functions.

Ratan Kumar currently serves as Chief General Manager – IT (Digital), where he has been at the forefront of the bank’s technology and innovation programmes. He has led several mission-critical initiatives, including the development of the Omnichannel Platform and the Digital Lending Platform, both integral to the bank’s modernisation strategy. His stewardship of Central Bank’s overarching digital roadmap has been widely regarded as a pivotal factor in strengthening customer experience and operational agility.

With nearly three decades of experience spanning banking and technology, he brings a distinctive combination of engineering expertise and financial leadership. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from NIT Allahabad, an M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics from the University of Hyderabad, and a master’s degree in financial management from NMIMS, University of Mumbai. This interdisciplinary background positions him strongly to drive the bank’s next phase of technology-enabled growth.

His appointment is expected to reinforce Central Bank of India’s long-term commitment to digital innovation, operational excellence and strategic transformation, at a time when the broader banking sector is undergoing rapid technological evolution.

As Central Bank of India accelerates its digital push, Kumar’s technology-first leadership is also expected to deepen the institution’s risk-management posture embedding stronger controls, cyber resilience and data-driven oversight into every layer of the bank’s modernisation journey.
