Bajaj Finance Ltd. has announced the appointment of Jennifer Mathew Fernandes as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), marking a key leadership transition at one of India’s largest non-banking financial institutions.
With over two decades of experience in strategic HR leadership, organizational development, and people transformation, Jennifer brings a deep understanding of human capital management within high-growth financial ecosystems. Her elevation to the CHRO role underscores Bajaj Finance’s continued focus on nurturing talent, strengthening culture, and aligning HR strategy with the company’s expanding digital and business ambitions.
Prior to this appointment, Jennifer served as Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer at Bajaj Finance, where she oversaw core functions such as HR Partnering, Learning & Development and Talent Acquisition managing a workforce of more than 40,000 employees across India. She played a pivotal role in building agile HR frameworks, implementing leadership development programs, and driving initiatives that enhanced organizational productivity and employee engagement.
Jennifer has also been instrumental in shaping the people agenda at Bajaj Housing Finance Limited, where she served as CHRO, managing both HR and administration functions. Her strategic focus on performance-linked growth, inclusion, and leadership capability building contributed to the company’s expansion and operational excellence.
Before joining the Bajaj Group, she worked at Bajaj Finserv, where she contributed to developing HR policies that promoted innovation and agility across the group’s diversified financial services businesses. Earlier in her career, Jennifer held leadership roles at L&T Finance, where she headed Group Compensation & Benefits and served as Business Partner HR, leading key initiatives to standardize group-wide HR processes and talent frameworks.
Her early professional journey includes experience with Team4U, KGK Group, and Concast Standard Engineering (I) Pvt. Ltd., where she gained hands-on expertise in HR operations, workforce planning, and policy design.
Jennifer’s appointment comes at a time when Bajaj Finance is strengthening its leadership bench to support sustained growth in the rapidly evolving financial services landscape. Her leadership will be central to advancing the company’s people-first approach, reinforcing employee experience, and cultivating next-generation capabilities aligned with its digital transformation strategy.
