The JSW Group has reinforced its leadership bench in the human resources function with the appointment of seasoned professionals to drive its people, talent and culture agenda at a time of rapid expansion across businesses.
The Group has appointed Sandiep Batra as President and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) – Steel & Corporate. In this role, He will lead the human capital strategy for JSW Steel and the Group’s corporate functions, with a mandate spanning organisational effectiveness, leadership capability building, talent management and the creation of a future-ready workforce.
He brings more than three decades of cross-sector experience in talent management, organisation design and productivity enhancement. His career spans industries including IT, consumer, telecom, retail, infrastructure and aviation. Prior to joining JSW Group, he served as Chief People Officer at Adani Airport Holdings Limited. His earlier leadership stints include roles at Landmark Group and Vodafone India. He has also served as a Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army, an experience that adds a distinctive leadership and discipline-oriented perspective to his professional profile.
Alongside this, JSW Group has appointed Shilpi Lal Sharma as Group Head – Talent, Learning & Development, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI). She will be responsible for shaping the Group’s learning architecture, leadership development framework, succession planning, organisational development initiatives and inclusion agenda across businesses. She will report to Sandeep Batra in his capacity as CHRO.
She brings over 20 years of experience in talent management and learning and development, including more than 15 years in senior leadership roles. She joins JSW Group from Welspun Group, where she led the Talent, Learning and Organisational Development function. Her previous roles include leadership positions at National Stock Exchange of India, UltraTech Cement and Edelweiss Asset Management.
Commenting on the appointments, Parth Jindal emphasised the strategic importance of people leadership as the Group scales its operations. He noted that strengthening leadership pipelines and people capabilities remains a core priority for JSW Group, particularly in building performance-driven, future-ready organisations. Jindal highlighted that Sandiep’s experience in building high-performing organisations, combined with Shilpi’s depth in talent development, learning and inclusion, would play a critical role in supporting the Group’s long-term growth ambitions.
The appointments signal JSW Group’s continued focus on aligning talent strategy with business expansion, underlining the role of human capital as a key enabler of scale, competitiveness and sustained performance across its diversified portfolio.
